Scene/Dialogue Sample I

INT. - LAUTLINGEN ESTATE - LIVING ROOM - MORNING

Claus gathers his papers. His suticase lies next to him. He is wearing his General Staff uniform. The sun shines in through bay windows.

Nina stands in doorway watching him. He hears her and turns his head. Nina begins walking toward him as if she had not stopped. She is holding something in her hand. There is a moment of uncomfortable silence.

CLAUS

I -

NINA

(Puts her finger to his mouth)

Don't.

(Pause)

She looks at him and they make eye contact. Claus has a guilty expression on his face. Nina has a sad expression.

(Raises black book in her hands)

I know you are -

She looks down at the book then back up at Claus.

Whatever happens, would you...?

(Pauses as she hands him a diary)

For me?

Claus nods and takes the diary. Nina leans in and kisses Claus on cheek. She is smiling. As she turns to leave her smile fades. Nina exits. Claus holds diary in his hand, looks at it, then glances at the entrance to the room. He puts the diary in his suitcase then turns and walks toward the door, stopping one more time and looking back before exiting.
