About Us
Stauffenberg was conceived twelve years ago after one of the writers read "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" and was captivated by the story of a man who almost defied the odds. The script began as a play which was completed the night before Nina von Stauffenberg passed away. One of the writers approached a theater professor and he said he saw the story as a movie. From there, the lines were drawn. The script is the culmination of twelve years of thought, preparation and a year of dedication. Written by a group of three writers, the script is designed to portray Claus von Stauffenberg as he was, warts and all - to let the audience decide who and what he was. We firmly believe this is one of the greatest stories of the last century and we have taken into account the fact that the family is still living. We scripted the film to portray the man and his wife as they were in life - honorable, conscience-driven and fallible. They were, in fact, very human, suffering through one of the darkest periods of history, yet maintaining their sense of humanity. The characters in the film are poignant and despicable, they are hopeful and hopeless, they are driven by a sense of honor and duty as well as by fear and avarice. They are real. They are powerful. They are us.
